Welcome to Cataraqui Cemetery
Since 1850, Cataraqui Cemetery has been reconized as a cemetery of great natural beauty. At Cataraqui your final resting place is a part of nature, eternal and forever peaceful. Large flower gardens, along with birds and other wildlife, contribute to the park-like setting. Our grounds are aesthetically pleasing with special touches such as our spring daffodils and tulips, summer annual flower beds, and winter evergreens laden with snow. Art abounds throughout the cemetery in sculptures and other memorials created by gifted artists, many dating back to the mid 1800's.
We also have strict regulations about grave site decorations to ensure that a naturally beautiful and uncluttered environment is provided for all families and visitors.
Cataraqui is the final resting place of many prominent Canadians, as varied as Canada's first prime minister, Sir John A. Macdonald; Charles Sangster, Canadian poet whose writings are imbued with a love for Canada, its scenery, its history and its traditions; the Antarctic explorer, Thomas MacLeod; and Dr.James Sampson founder of Kingston General Hospital and founder of Queen's University.
A unique blend of art and nature
A place for the living
A place for memories
A place of history
