Genealogy

Cataraqui Cemetery is an excellent source for family genealogy to help you build your family tree.   The Cemetery's registries go as far back as 1850.  When you consider the old "Quaker burial ground", Cataraqui has almost 200 years of burials and memorials. Some of the earliest markers at Cataraqui Cemetery were moved here from other Kingston burial grounds.  The numerous markers and headstones are informative to individuals seeking their ancestral roots.  Did you know that prior to the 1950's it was the responsibility of the family, particularly the Interment Rights Holder to note and record the location of any interments within their family plot?  We and others would certainly appreciate any updates and information that you may have so that we may complete our records and registries.

You may visit our office, or e-mail us your genealogical questions and we will do our best to find the answers.  We are a not for profit registered charity.  Please note that some of our genealogical searches have applicable fees.  Donations are always appreciated.  Contact us to learn more about our services or how you can assist with some of our genealogical projects.

Watch for some exciting changes as we raise funds and work towards digitizing our records and making them available online in the near future.
